im in kimmirut. a neighoboring community of iqaluit... 120 klicks if i were a bird. only im not.

it took us 12 days and 160km or more, including detours to get here. it was an eamazing experience. we came at the least ideal time of the year ...since the rivers are opening or open and the lakes are thawing so that definetely made it more challenging... but definetely well worth it. its safe to say that our feet wet well over 90% of the time.

we saw 10 caribou... soooooo many geese... a arctic fox... maybe polar bear paw prints... sooo many different birds... awesome plants... sum trees!!! (willows)

kimmirut has 400 population. the people are extremely easy-going. what we mostly do is sit around all day and drink coffee... sitting on the front porch of the visitor center or hanging out in town... or at the school.. meeting people this way and learning this way. its great.

oh yeah! we skied 8 days and hikes 4 days! there just wasnt any more snow to ski on and we got tired of hiking in our ski boots carrying our heavy skis in our hands.. so we strapped them on to the packs and that added so MUCH weight... cause we were doing a back country expedition with downhill skis . good enough. just totally heavy to be worn on our packs.

weve also managed to create great contacts for the Active youth expedition we are planning for next spring with the kids from the program i run in iqaluit with mitch, my supercalifragilistic partner (5 months yesterday! woot woot!).

anyway, i have to go pay my visa card right now... payment which will be late once again. viva my not so good credit. take care yall. am thinking of you often.

maxxx
